A big day of Glasgow 2014 competition features the epic climaxes of Athletics, Boxing and Diving – and Powerlifting makes it’s debut in the SECC Armadillo. With 33 Gold medals to be won, you won’t want to miss a moment this super Saturday!

After the intensity and drama of the Games’ Weightlifting competition, today it’s time for the Commonwealth’s best Powerlifting athletes to take to the stage in Glasgow’s famous Armadillo.
Nearly 40 athletes from 15 nations and territories will compete in four medal events, and looking to continue its dominance is Nigeria – winner of all six medals on offer at Delhi 2010. This won’t come easily though, with strong competition from Malaysia’s Yee Khie Jong and Mohd Shahmil Md Saad, Australia’s Jessica Gray, England’s Ali Jawad, and Micky Yule - who will me making Team Scotland’s debut in Para-Sport Powerlifting. After yesterday’s marathon of Boxing action across 13 Semi-final bouts at the SECC, the SSE Hydro will be the coliseum to decide the victors of the Commonwealth when the spectacular Finals take place throughout the day.

It’s the last Saturday of the Games, and there is a variety of Festival 2014 events taking place across Glasgow today to help you make the most of your time in the city.
Take a trip down memory lane with The Pokey Hat, a show performed in an ice cream van. Taking place in the Family Zone at Merchant City Festival, this interactive musical performance celebrates the east end of Glasgow, and – of course – ice cream cones will be handed out at every show!
Today is the second day of the New Music Biennial at the Royal Concert Hall, with 20 eclectic, fresh and brand new pieces created by composers with film makers, choreographers, dancers, story tellers and visual artists. Enjoy styles from traditional to experimental – all performances are free!
