A week has already passed since our spectacular Opening Ceremony, and today the excitement continues with 19 Gold medals up for grabs. Highlights include more adrenaline-fuelled Athletics events, and in Edinburgh the Royal Commonwealth Pool dives into action.

In another massive day for Athletics in Glasgow, some of the world’s best competitors will be racing towards Gold at Hampden Park. Olympic Champion Kirani James will confidently take to the track for today’s 400m Final.  The 21 year old Grenadian will face tough competition from Trinidad and Tobago’s Lalonde Gordon and Martyn Rooney of England on his route to glory.

Other Finals include the Men’s High Jump and Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase, Shot Put, Javelin and Heptathlon. London 2012 Long Jump Champion Greg Rutherford of England earned his spot in today’s Final after cruising in yesterday’s qualifications.

The Glasgow 2014 Diving competition begins today, with medals up for grabs in the Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform, 3m Platform and the Men’s 1m Springboard. Look out for Canada’s divers – who lead the world rankings – and Victoria Vincent from England, who will be diving the 10m Platform as the team’s youngest competitor.

Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics medals will be up for grabs, with vault, balance, beam and floor events lighting up the SSE Hydro in the All-Round Finals. At the other side of the SECC Precinct in the Clyde Auditorium, the Weightlifting competition will see Finals for the Women’s +75 and Men’s 105kg events, and in the Halls Wrestling athletes will battle for five Gold medals.

Competition intensifies in Squash, Table Tennis and Lawn Bowls, whilst Badminton Singles and Doubles preliminaries will continue to create a buzz in the Emirates Arena. Don’t miss the exciting home nation clashes in Women’s Hockey (Scotland v England) and Netball (Scotland v Northern Ireland), and in Boxing the Quarter-finals will see London 2012 Gold medallist and Team England’s Nicola Adams face Erandi de Silva of Sri Lanka.
