Procurement

Hosting the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will provide a massive boost to both the city and the country. Delivering a world-class event of this scale requires the procurement of goods, works and services from an enormous range of businesses.

Glasgow 2014 Ltd, the Organising Committee of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, is responsible for procuring the goods and services required to deliver the Games; these requirements will amount to hundreds of direct contracts, and thousands of indirect sub-contracts, covering goods ranging from sports equipment to creative design, and catering to temporary venue infrastructure. And the story begins a long time before the Opening Ceremony in 2014. The procurement programme for the Games is already well underway but there is still plenty of time to get involved as the majority of contracts will be awarded throughout 2012 and 2013.

Business Portal – the one-stop-shop for Games opportunities

Glasgow 2014 has selected the Glasgow Business Portal, operated by Glasgow City Council, as the advertising platform for current and future Games business opportunities. Registration on the Portal is free and takes only a few moments to complete. Glasgow 2014 needs the support of businesses of all types and sizes, so register now to find out more and get involved.

All competitive tender opportunities will be advertised on the Business Portal, with larger opportunities also being advertised on the Public Contracts Scotland website, as well as the Official Journal of the European Union.

Winning Business

Glasgow 2014 operates a fair and transparent procurement process which awards business on the basis of best overall value. An explanation of how we measure value is included in every tender we publish. This includes what information we require potential suppliers to complete and how we will score bids – across a range of quality and cost factors – to determine the winning bid. We know completing tenders takes time and effort, and we try to make our tendering process as simple and straightforward as we can.
