Environment and Sustainability
As an organisation we have a responsibility to manage the
activities related to the Games with a view to prevent, reduce, or
mitigate harmful effects on the environment. We also have a
responsibility to ensure that any development or changes to the
natural and built environment has as minimal an impact as
possible on the environment.
The Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee Policy is an outline plan
of action to guide decisions and achieve desired outcomes as we
mature through our organisational lifecycle.
The Organising Committee is committed to responsible
environmental and sustainability standards through its planning and
delivery lifecycle. It seeks to maximise its contribution to
sustainable development by working collaboratively with Games
Partners, Stakeholders and Advocates to align and promote the Games
delivery
obligations and ambitions through measurable outcomes that
represent new Environmental and Sustainability benchmarks and
benefits for the Commonwealth Games, the City of Glasgow and
Scotland.
