Aggreko, the world leader in the supply of temporary power and temperature control services is proud to be a Supporter of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games as the official provider of temporary power. Aggreko will provide all temporary power requirements across each of the 13 competition venues, the Athlete’s Village and a number of non-competition venues. As the leading supplier of rental power and temperature control solutions to the global sporting and cultural events industry, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games has added significance for Aggreko. The company has its global headquarters and IT operations based in Glasgow’s East-End, and its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in nearby Dumbarton, on the shores of Loch Lomond.

To power the Games, Aggreko will design, implement and manage a sophisticated temporary power system comprising 103 individual generator sets connected through a network of more than 1,000 distribution boards and 200 kilometres of cabling. The system will be will be supported 24/7 by a dedicated team of engineers and technicians.
The temporary power solution supplied by Aggreko will form an integral part of the Commonwealth Games sustainability planning by utilising existing venues and providing all additional power requirements through temporary infrastructure. This will avoid any capital investment in infrastructure that does not have a defined purpose at the conclusion of the Games.

Aggreko brings to Glasgow 2014 significant experience in supporting major events in Scotland, the UK and throughout the world. Recent events which Aggreko has powered include the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games as well as major global football and rugby tournaments and a host of other sporting, music and cultural events.
