Aggreko will provide all temporary power requirements across each of the 13 competition venues, the Athlete’s Village and a number of non-competition venues. As the leading supplier of rental power and temperature control solutions to the global sporting and cultural events industry, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games has added significance for Aggreko. To power the Games, Aggreko will design, implement and manage a sophisticated temporary power system comprising 103 individual generator sets connected through a network of more than 1,000 distribution boards and 200 kilometres of cabling. The system will be will be supported 24/7 by a dedicated team of engineers and technicians.
The temporary power solution supplied by Aggreko will form an integral part of the Commonwealth Games sustainability planning by utilising existing venues and providing all additional power requirements through temporary infrastructure. This will avoid any capital investment in infrastructure that does not have a defined purpose at the conclusion of the Games.
