Comedy weaves through the Culture 2014 programme. Enjoy a series of events that take a more humorous look at the Commonwealth, the Games and its host nation.
Come and join the laughs when the ever popular Glasgow International Comedy Festival presents free stand-up shows as part of Festival 2014. At Glasgow Green on 26 July you can enjoy Commonwealth Stand-Up Comedy with Hardeep Singh Kholi and a whole host of performers from across the Commonwealth, and for younger comedy fans there’s the Kids’ Comedy Club. On 28 July you can head along to Kelvingrove Bandstand for Stand Up At The Bandstand with the legendary Fred MacAulay and guests.
Glasgow comedy legend Janey Godley is teaming up with her talented comedian daughter Ashley Storie in Journeys to Glasgow. This is a fast combination of narrated bus travel across Scotland, events at libraries around Glasgow and side-splitting comedy nights at a variety of venues, including gigs at Blackfriars in Glasgow’s Merchant City.
Random Accomplice will be keeping you up to date with News Just In, a humorous look at the stories behind the Games. Look out for bulletins appearing over the coming months in the countdown to the Games, and a nightly live theatre show reporting on the day’s events during Festival 2014.
