Put Children First – Support UNICEF to save and change children’s lives
UNICEF is working in partnership with the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games to save and change children’s lives. This unique partnership will use the power of sport to reach every child in Scotland and benefit children in every Commonwealth nation and territory.
The Commonwealth is home to almost one third of the world’s population. It is a union which brings together some of the world’s largest, smallest, richest and poorest countries, and values peace, equality and diversity.
The partnership aims to create a legacy for children in every nation and territory throughout the Commonwealth, thanks to a major fundraising appeal – Put Children First – in the run up to and during the Games.
The Glasgow 2014 Opening Ceremony will feature a Commonwealth-wide fundraiser for children. International singing superstar Nicole Scherzinger, cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy, cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar, footballing supremo Sir Alex Ferguson and Line of Duty actress Keeley Hawes will invite spectators, athletes and an expected one billion viewers from across the Commonwealth to all play their part in the ceremony and be invited to Put Children First by making a donation via a text number or url which will create a powerful Games legacy for children.
