Steve Cram MBE, who has six gold medals at the Commonwealth, European and World Championship Games and a silver medal the 1984 Olympics to his name, said:
“One of my fondest sporting memories is securing a double-gold in the 1500m and 800m events at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. The atmosphere created by the Scottish crowd was immense and I can’t wait for the spectacle of the Games being held in Glasgow in 2014. Scotland is renowned the world over for its hospitality and iconic culture and I know the country will put on a fantastic show. I am fully behind Glasgow 2014 which is why I’ll be ‘Sporting my Trainers’ on Commonwealth Day. I hope the Scottish public will join me.”
