The Best Games Ever – Glasgow 2014

Glasgow won the bid to host the Commonwealth Games on 07 November 2007 and it’s been an incredible journey since then, as we put everything in place to welcome the world to the biggest sporting and cultural event in Scotland’s history.

From the construction of new state-of-the-art venues to the transformation of iconic Glasgow buildings, your overwhelming response to our volunteer recruitment campaign, and unprecedented demand for tickets – we reached out and you responded!

You embraced the Games and welcomed the athletes and visitors with sensational support, smiles and… selfies. Thank you for bringing the house down in all the venues with your amazing levels of support. The athletes inspired us on a daily basis by breaking records and striving to go beyond their personal best and whilst the Games only lasted 11 days, the memories will last forever.

Thank you one and all. You really did make Glasgow 2014 the Best Games Ever.
