1,143,563 people from all over Scotland pledged to wear their trainers on 12 March 2012 – Commonwealth Day – to show their support for the Games.
Following the success of 2011’s Sport Your Trainers campaign, the challenge this year was to ‘Step Up’ and add a personal promise to the pledge.
People, businesses and sports, community, and education hubs across the country signed up following the 9 January campaign launch, inspired by the approaching half-way point to the 2014 Games. Friends and colleagues could join individual challenges, or create their own.
An exciting online competition offered Opening Ceremony tickets, limited-edition trainers and official Glasgow 2014 shoelaces to lucky participants.
