On Saturday 14 June the residents of Coldstream and Edinburgh welcomed the arrival of the Queen’s Baton into Scotland.
The baton has been proudly carried through the length and breadth of the Commonwealth sharing the warmth and friendship of Glasgow and Scotland with some of the world’s most diverse communities. Early in the morning in the Border town of Coldstream the baton returned to Scotland, marking the final straight of a 100,000-mile epic journey and the final countdown to the Commonwealth Games.
The baton then travelled to Edinburgh visiting Riccarton, Newington, Duddingston, the Portobello Promenade, Meadowbank Stadium and the Royal Commonwealth Pool. Welcome events followed at Leith Gala before an evening celebration in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens.
