FAQs

Q: How will the re-sale platform work?

A:

If you are no longer able to attend a session you have tickets for, here is some important information about selling your tickets through the Glasgow 2014 ticket resale programme.

  • You can submit for resale some or all of the tickets you purchased by downloading a Ticket Resale Request Form from glasgow2014.com/tickets
  • Once you have submitted tickets for resale, your tickets will become void and will be removed from your account.
  • A fee of £2.00 per ticket will charged to resell your ticket. This fee will be debited from any money owed to you.
  • Once your tickets are cancelled and resold the face value of your tickets minus a fee of £2.00 per ticket will be refunded to your nominated payment card.
  • You will be required to post any tickets you wish to sell back to us. Any tickets not received by us will not be made available for sale and will not be refunded. Returned tickets must be received by Glasgow 2014 by Thursday 26 June 2014. All tickets that have been submitted for resale and received by Glasgow 2014 will become available for sale at 09.00 on 28 June 2014. We would recommend returning your tickets to us via a recorded delivery method as any tickets not received by us cannot be made available for resale.

Q: How will the re-sale tickets be made available to buy – will it be immediate on a first come, first served basis?

A:

Any tickets to be resold will be made available or sale on a first come first served basis from 09.00 on Saturday 28 June 2014

Q: Will the resale only be available for a certain amount of time?

A:

The facility to post tickets for resale will be available from Friday 13 June until 26 June 2014. The tickets will be available for sale from 09.00 on Saturday 28 June 2014

Q: In the resale platform will I get my money back from Glasgow 2014 or do I have to wait until the tickets are re-sold?

A:

If your ticket is received by Glasgow 2014 along with a completed Ticket Resale Request Form you should expect to receive any money owed, minus a £2.00 administration fee per ticket resold, no later than 18 July 2014.

Q: what happens if my tickets don’t sell in the resale platform?

A:

When we get your tickets for resale, we’ll send you an email confirmation to tell you they’ve been safely received and accepted for resale.  We can’t guarantee your tickets will be sold and your monies refunded, but previous experience has shown that a large proportion of returned tickets are quickly resold.  If they are resold, you’ll expect to see money credited to your account by 18 July (minus £2.00 admin fee per ticket).  In the unlikely event that they are not resold, we’ll contact you with information regarding how you can still use these tickets at Games Time.

Q: Am I permitted to resell my tickets?

A:

Under the Ticketing Terms and Conditions you cannot resell, trade or otherwise transfer any ticket.
If you purchase one or more tickets those tickets may only be used by you, a family member, friend or colleague who is known to you personally. The transfer of a ticket in this manner shall not contravene the Ticketing Terms and Conditions providing the payment you receive does not exceed the face value of the ticket and the family member, friend or colleague accepts the Ticketing Terms and Conditions. You may be asked to provide the name and address and any other ID details as required, of ticket holders at any time by an official steward or employee of Glasgow 2014 or the venue owner or police officer.

Q: What is the process for seats being assigned?

A:

All seats will be assigned automatically.  Tickets purchased between 19 August and 26 October will be randomly assigned first.  Any tickets purchased from 5 November onwards will be assigned based on the transaction date and time.

For those customers who may have added tickets for the same session and price category to those purchased before 5 November, these seats will be assigned together.

Q: How long will it take to assign seats?

A:

The process to assign seats is expected to take 4-6 weeks.

A:

We will endeavour to print and dispatch tickets as soon as possible.  We plan to start dispatching tickets at the start of May.

Q: I’m in the running to be a Glasgow 2014 volunteer but I’d like to see some events, too. Can I purchase tickets?

A:

Yes! However to help us make the Games as good as they can possibly be, we’re asking everyone involved in delivering Glasgow 2014 (including volunteers) to treat their Games Time role as their priority.

This means if your volunteer application is successful, you could find yourself with tickets you are unable to use due to your commitments as a volunteer.

Q: If my volunteer application is successful, will I be entitled to free or discounted tickets?

A:

Rather than offering free or discounted ticket schemes, our aim has always been to make tickets for the Games as accessible as possible to everyone.

So although you won’t be entitled to any special discounts if you are successful, you will be involved in making Scotland’s biggest ever sporting and cultural event happen.

Q: What happens if I have tickets for an event at the same time as one of my volunteer shifts?

A:

We’ll ask you to prioritise your commitments as a volunteer, which in most cases will be a minimum of 8 days during the Games. This means it’s possible you could find yourself with tickets you are unable to use.

Q: If I no longer want my tickets can I get a refund?

A:

No.  You cannot cancel, change or return your tickets. Please refer to the Ticketing Terms and Conditions.

Q: The billing address on my credit/debit card is different from where I live and there will be no one at the billing address to accept my tickets. Can tickets be delivered to a different address?

A:

For security purposes, your tickets will be delivered to the address you provided on your ticketing account by secure delivery which must be your billing address.

Q: I’ve been contacted by someone claiming to be from Glasgow 2014 about my ticket purchase. How do I ensure they are legitimate?

A:

If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from Glasgow 2014 saying they are authorised by or connected to Glasgow 2014, or saying they can help you gain some connection with the Games, please take steps to ensure they are legitimate, particularly if they are asking you to pay them any money. If you are in any doubt, please contact Glasgow 2014 before dealing further with them.
