Vice Chair
Louise is the Immediate Past Chair of the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland. Louise has a long and ongoing association with the Games as a competitor, team manager and an administrator. Her leadership role in bringing the Games to Glasgow was crucial.

Michael trained as a PE teacher and worked for 18 years in public sector sport and leisure management. He currently manages the East of Scotland Institute of Sport, part of the performance sports network in Scotland.
European Regional President of the Commonwealth Games Federation
Ian was Vice Chair, then Chair of Commonwealth Games England from 1994-2007 and is now a Vice President and is the European Regional President at the Commonwealth Games Federation. He has attended Games in Edinburgh (1970 and 1986), Auckland (1990), Kuala Lumpur (1998), Manchester (2002) and Melbourne (2006).

Mike’s career in sports administration spans over 30 years, having served in the Commonwealth Games Federation, the Olympic Movement, the Pan American Sport Organisation (PASO) and the Jamaica Olympic Association. He has a wealth of experience that makes him one of the leading authorities on major global and regional multi sports events.

Sir Bill is Chief Executive of Cairn Energy plc. He holds a BA in economics and accounting from Stirling. He founded Cairn and was appointed Chief Executive on its initial listing in 1988. Sir Bill has over 25 years’ experience in the international oil and gas industry.
Chief Executive, Commonwealth Games Federation
Mike is the Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Games Federation. He joined the Federation in this role in December 2000 after nine years as the Secretary General of the New Zealand Olympic Committee. During his time with the NZOC he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of New Zealand team preparation, planning and participation in Olympic and Commonwealth games. In addition to Glasgow 2014, Mike is also a member of the Executive Board for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.

Liz currently heads the Equalities, Social Inclusion & Sport Directorate taking forward a challenging agenda including tackling poverty, promoting a tolerant and inclusive Scotland and securing a major increase in participation in sport.

As Chief Executive of Culture & Sport Glasgow, Bridget leads a staff of 2,600, with an annual budget approaching £100 million, in the delivery of cultural and sports activities on behalf of the city.
Independent Director
Alan is the Legal and Commercial Director of The Weir Group. A graduate of Aberdeen University, Alan was a criminal lawyer before the arrival of the oil industry. A number of years were spent in the oil services sector before joining Trafalgar House where he was legal advisor in Scotland and heavily involved in major contracts including the oil rigs and shipbuilding at Scot Lithgow on the Clyde and part of the reconstruction of the St Enoch Centre.
Athlete Representative
Rhona Simpson is the Athlete Representative on the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games Board. Her sporting experience as a hockey player includes competing in three Commonwealth Games (Kuala Lumpar 1998, Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006) and two Olympic Games (Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000).
Head of Sport and Deputy Director of Public Health and Wellbeing
Kate was appointed Head of Sport and Deputy Director of Public Health and Wellbeing in the Scottish Government in November 2007. Kate’s division is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Games and developing Scotland’s legacy plan for the Commonwealth Games and London Olympic Games 2012.
