Getting to the venue from around the city
Details of local transport arrangements for the Glasgow National Hockey Centre are set out below. Also please refer to Getting to Glasgow section for details on the best way to travel to Glasgow during the Games.
Walking to the venue in 30 minutes
The walk from the city centre will be a great way to soak up the atmosphere and will take around 30 minutes. Games Time volunteers called clyde-siders will be on hand to help you every step of the way.

The preferred route is:
Head south on South Frederick St – Turn left onto Ingram St – Turn right onto Glassford St – Turn left onto Trongate – Slight right to stay on Trongate – Continue onto London Rd – Slight left to stay on London Rd – Turn right onto Arcadia St – Continue onto The Green – Turn right – PSA/Entrance on right.
Why not cycle? It’s only nine minutes from the city centre
The Glasgow National Hockey Centre is approximately nine minutes’ cycle from the city centre. You can view the route here. The recommended cycling route is as follows:
Head south on South Frederick St toward Ingram St – Turn left onto Ingram St – Turn right onto Glassford St – Turn left onto Trongate – Turn right onto Saltmarket – Turn left onto St Andrews Street – Turn left onto James Morrison Street – Turn right onto London Rd – Turn Right onto Arcadia Street – Cycle Parking on right within park.
The venue is less than a 30 minute cycle from the west end along local routes and incorporating National Cycle Network Route 75.
Cycle parking is a five minute walk from the venue. There is space for 100 cycles. The cycle parking is near to Arcadia Street, up to King’s Drive and James Street crossroad.
Travelling by rail – city centre to nearby stations in five minutes
Bridgeton Train Station serves the Glasgow National Hockey Centre and is about 10 minutes’ walk from the venue.
From Glasgow city centre:
Join services ONLY at Argyle Street station – join only Glasgow Central if you require accessibility services – for onward travel to Bridgeton, heading for Lanark, Motherwell and Larkhall. Travel time is five minutes.
From the west of Glasgow:
Direct services from Milngavie/Dalmuir – via Glasgow Central Low Level – also call at Bridgeton, heading for Lanark, Motherwell and Larkhall.
From South Lanarkshire:
Direct services from Motherwell/Larkhall etc. call at Bridgeton.
ScotRail will provide up to double its normal number of carriages on key routes, but remember to allow time for the queuing systems that will be in place at the busiest stations to help journeys run safely and smoothly. Travel on a specific service is not guaranteed and should be considered when planning your journey

Travelling by bus – city to venue in 20 minutes
The Glasgow National Hockey Centre is well served by multiple bus routes with several bus stops in close proximity to the venue. Remember use of the bus is included in the cost of your event ticket.
For travel from the city centre use First Bus services: 18, 64 and 263. Leave the bus at Bridgeton Cross which is a 10 minute walk from the venue. First Bus services 21 and 267 stop at Shawfield which is approximately 15 minutes to venue. Remember It’s only about 20 minutes walk from the city centre to the venue.
For travel from other areas of Greater Glasgow, First Bus services 46 and 65 service Bridgeton Cross – take a10 minute to walk to Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
Leave your car behind!
You are advised not to drive to the Glasgow National Hockey Centre. Parking around the venue is reserved strictly for residents and local businesses only.
There are no set-down pick-up points. Roads will be busy and subject to closures and restrictions. Blue Badge holders should visit here to book parking.
So leave your car behind and make use of the many other transport options available.
Busy Periods
Public transport is expected to be busy in this area between the hours of 08.00–09.00 and 22.00–23.00 from 24 July–3 August 2014. Avoid travelling at the busiest times, or use walking and cycling as an alternative to public transport.
Roads are expected to be busy in this area betwen the hours of 08.00–09.00 and 22.00–23.00 from 24 July to 3 August 2014. On 3 August 2014 the roads will be particularly busy throughout the day. Please cycle, walk and use public transport or travel at less busy times.
