Aquatics: Diving and Swimming

Diving requires a specialist deep pool with proper viewing for judges and spectators. Glasgow 2014 will use the newly refurbished Royal Commonwealth Pool, in Edinburgh, built for the 1970 Games, to bring Games excitement to the capital.

Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh
This venerable swimming venue in the capital city hosted the Commonwealth Games swimming in 1970 and 1986 and it will be a focus once again, this time hosting diving competitions. With an eye on the costs of the Games, Edinburgh and Glasgow will collaborate on this event to use existing diving facilities.

Swimming
The Commonwealth Games pool is always a focal point for outstanding achievement in swimming. Numerous world records have been created in this arena of intense competition and excitement, where a fraction of a second comes between a medal and disappointment. A full range of medals will be up for grabs during the six-day event.

National Swimming Centre, Glasgow
The swimming events will be held at the National Swimming Centre, Tollcross Park, where there is already a 50-metre competition pool. Work will shortly begin on a second pool for training and Games warm-up.
