A large part of the organisation is to ensure safe and effective transport for athletes and spectators during the Games. The Organising Committee is already working on plans to ensure that a comprehensive transport infrastructure is in place for Glasgow 2014. A full plan will be announced in due course.
The road network is also being improved and an extension to the M74, which already links Scotland with the north of England, will be a huge boost to the city. This, and the East End Regeneration Route, which will connect the M74 and M8 in the East End of the city, are crucial projects for 2014 and will provide excellent transport links for the Games – and beyond.
